- Nutrient Management Planning Decision Support System (NutMan)
Development of and training on the NutMan program, a decision support system developed here and used within Virginia since 1994 by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation in its Nutrient Management Planning program. - National IPM Network
Virginia Tech is the host of the Sourthern Region server for the National IPM Network (NIPMN). NIPMN is a WWW system to provide the most accurate urban and agricultural IPM information. Participating institutions have agreed to a set of standards which ensure science-based, unbiased pest managment information. The backbone of the National IPM Network consists of web servers for each of the USDA defined regions (Southern, Northeastern, North Central, and Western) in the US. Within each region, participating institutions are providing state-specific or subject-specific information. - Pasture Land Management System (PLMS)
PLMS is the Pasture Land Management System, a practical and portable computer decision aid supporting private land-use decisions related to pasture land management. The program helps livestock farmers compare different strategies for managing their land and their livestock. The basic idea is to bring the balance of forage produced on the farm and forage demanded by the livestock into a seasonal balance. - Peanut/Cotton InfoNet
The Peanut/Cotton InfoNet provides crop management information, updated daily during the growing season, to provide county agents and growers with the latest information at the beginning of each work day. - Southern Pine Beetle Internet Control Center
A web-based clearinghouse for southern pine beetle information, control strategies, and ongoing research. - Decision Support System for Agricultural Water Quality Policy
We are developing an integrated watershed assessment tool for evaluating selected farm policy alternatives for reducing nonpoint source (NPS) pollution. The tool will help decisionmakers develop NPS pollution control programs that minimize costs to taxpayers, farmers, and consumers while meeting water quality goals.
